Red Barn free range farm Shop George has been supplying free range and organic food to the Garden Route since 2009.
What began as a free range chicken farm on a smallholding near George Airport has grown into a trusted farm shop in George for customers who care about flavour, quality and how their food is produced.
Our setting is still the same: open skies, Outeniqua Mountain views and the kind of countryside that reminds you that food should come from real farms, not faceless factories. But Red Barn today is about more than what we produce ourselves. It is also about what we choose, what we stand for and who we support through our online farm shop.
Our Philosophy
We believe good food starts with good farming, careful sourcing and honest relationships. That is why we focus on free range, ethical and organic products wherever possible, both in our Online shop and in our farm stall near George Airport.
We are selective about what we stock. We do not bring in products simply to fill shelves. We choose food from farmers and producers whose standards align with ours (free-range, organic or high welfare), because our customers trust us to do that homework for them before they order online or visit the farm, personally.
What Makes Red Barn Different
Red Barn is not a supermarket and it is not an anonymous online store. It is a personal, local, family business built over many years, with close relationships between farmer, producer and customer. That matters whether you are shopping in person or placing an order through our free range order page.
Most of the people who shop with us want to know where their food comes from, how animals were raised and whether quality has been sacrificed for convenience. We ask those same questions ourselves. That is why Red Barn has become a trusted name for free range and organic food in George and along the Garden Route all the way from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town.
Supporting Local Farmers and Producers
Over the years, Red Barn has grown beyond its origins as a chicken farm into a carefully curated farm shop. Alongside our own products, we support trusted local farmers and artisan producers by bringing their best products to our customers in one place.
This means you can shop a thoughtful range of free range meat, eggs, dairy, artisan pantry foods, ready meals and raw pet food, while also supporting smaller ethical producers in the Western Cape. If you want to browse what is available, you can shop online here.
Visit the Farm Shop
Our farm shop is just outside George, close to George Airport, and open to the public six days a week. It is a place where customers can browse at their own pace, discover something new and enjoy the experience of buying food from people who genuinely care about it. Have a coffee, grab a muffin or toastie, and take your time. Red Barn is built around good food and real service, not rush.
Monday to Friday: 8:00-17:00
Saturday: 9:00-14:00
Open most public holidays. Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Order Online or Join a Chicken Club
If you would rather shop from home, you can order online here. We also offer delivery to George, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay, along our Port Elizabeth route and by courier to Cape Town.
If you want to save on delivery and shop more conveniently with friends, you can join or start a Chicken Club. It is a practical way to enjoy Red Barn products while sharing delivery costs in your area.
